The GERMAN DEBT PROJECT 2022 study by the International Real Estate Business School (IRE|BS), supported by the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks (VDP) and renowned companies from the real estate industry, presents detailed information on the market for commercial real estate financing in Germany for the tenth time.

The analysis is based on extensive data analysis and more than 20 interviews with financing banks. The data and analyses presented summarise the portfolio information of the participating banks and their assessments.

> What can I expect?

The study not only characterises the development of important market parameters, but also outlines the future perspectives of the different banks: What will be financed more in the future and what perhaps less? What are the related implications for the stability of commercial real estate financing in Germany? These and many other questions are answered within the GDP.

The results will be presented by Prof. Dr. Tobias Just FRICS and then discussed with industry representatives. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to discuss with the study authors and participants during a cosy evening.

As in previous years, these analyses were only possible because the study was financially supported by our sponsors. The study provides an overview of the market structures of the German commercial real estate financing market (including the market for institutionally investable housing).

The market is analysed according to property types, federal states, A-cities, project development versus portfolio, size categories and other parameters. In addition to a detailed description of the breakdown of new and existing business over time, the study provides information on margin performance and the development of expiries.
